Our Professional Hunters have a vast amount of experience and knowledge in guiding bird-hunts in South Africa. We pride ourselves on the high standard of our dogs, which include past and present Field Trial Champions. Upland game birds are hunted over well-trained English Pointers, while Black Labradors are used for retrieving downed birds.
A few days bird hunting can be added to a plains game safari if desired or to a photographic safari. The bird-hunting season takes place between May and August.

GREYWING PARTRIDGE
The Greywing partridge, considered by many to be one of the finest upland game bird, occurs at an elevation of above 5000 feet in rugged breathtaking terrain. Living in coveys from six to eighteen, these fast flying birds flush swiftly before well-trained English Pointers, offering the discerning hunter champagne shooting.
DUCKS
Numerous duck species are shot from grass blinds at the edge of ponds and marshes. The most common species are Yellow-bill Duck and Red-bill Teal, which are attracted by the use of decoys. Enthusiastic Labradors retrieve downed birds. South Africa has 15 species of waterfowl on offer for the collector.
GEESE
South Africa boasts the largest goose in the world, the Spurwing. Ganders weigh an average of 16 pounds, making them a remarkable bird to shoot. Together with the cunning smaller Egyptian Goose, they are shot out of blinds over decoys while flying in to feed on grain fields at sunrise.
GUINEAFOWL
Flocks of Guineafowl offer an entertaining afternoons shoot. They are either driven over the guns by beaters, providing challenging shooting or are walked up and shot over English Pointers.
PIGEONS AND DOVES
For an exciting variety of different flight patterns, our Pigeons and Doves offer challenging shooting at midday, while flying into feed on corn fields.
